Realtor.org posted an article about the new kitchen design trends. The word 'trend' in itself means of a passing nature. Trends quickly become outdated, so when renovating the kitchen choose carefully as you will not do this project on a yearly basis. After doing a kitchen renovation project I am sure it will remain untouched for the next 15 years or longer.
Here a couple rules of thumbs:
- the most expensive or less flexible items (think cabinetry) should be the most neutral
- counter tops and fixtures should be the accents and can be changed if they start to look 'tired'
- appliances complete the look and can be changed.
It's no surprise that energy saving appliances, no touch faucets, and induction cooktops are becoming increasingly popular.
As contemporary style cabinets are gaining territory the ornamental styles of Tuscan, Provincial, Country and Rustic are on their way out.
